Happy new year, everybody.

Typing this post, we can't help but think of Todd Snider's most excellent song. That said, WWAW hopes you and yours ring in 2007 in the most excellent of fashions. And if you're at the Gringo Star/Deerhunter/Snowden show tonight, by all means, say hello. Have a safe evening, everyone, and see you next year...

Help WWAW make it to the toilets!

What We All Want is looking for bumper sticker/logo ideas. Although we've got a couple creative minds already at work, we'd love to see your submissions. What are we looking for? Basically, a nice looking, probably rectangular logo that include the blog's name and address, maybe an image of some sort and whatever other awesome eye-catching things you can muster. No idea is too weird. The winner will get a shout-out on here, their design at the top of the blog, a handful of stickers for their own use and a t-shirt. Not to mention their design will be plastered all over cars, poles and toilets in Atlanta and maybe elsewhere. Send along three ideas to whatweallwant@gmail.com, and we'll get back to you soon. Thanks, everyone! And have a happy new year...

James Brown RIP

Earlier this morning, the Godfather of Soul passed on, just 10 minutes or so from WWAW HQ. Truly a sad day for music. Read more:

Super Exclusive Show Announcement Preview Dot Com Slash Awesome Dot HTML

Before you question WWAW's authoritah, this all comes straight from the mouth of Atlanta's finest concert promoter. And yes, we're breaking the holiday blogging hiatus, but with good reason. See, TV on the Radio will be playing Variety Playhouse on April 13th. We will be there, dancing, crying and drinking. Do not miss out.

Additionally, you can look forward to seeing the Arcade Fire at a particularly large venue on May 1st. Sebadoh will also grace Atlanta with its presence in the new year, as will Blonde Redhead. Woot. Stay tuned for more updates as we have them. That is all for now...

Happy Holidays from WWAW

Above: Creepiest. Dog. Ever.

Yr good friends at WWAW HQ will be taking a few days off to enjoy Christmas/New Year's/etc. You should do the same. Get off the interweb already! Go outside! Kiss a baby! Eat too much food! And now, some old links we've meant to blog about for a while...

Precisely five days ago, we had a classy dinner party. This girl bit my nose. It made my eyes water.

You want reviews? We got reviews.

Sometimes, I write reviews. Sometimes, they get published here. Sometimes, they get "edited" by the above-pictured, back-to-the-camera individual (who, at the time of that particular photo, was in student court, no less! har har...). Sometimes, all of these things happen and more. Well, maybe not more. Maybe just exactly that. Anyway, get to reading, ya hippie:

In case you missed it: "Dick in a Box"

Above: Dick on a box

Caught the most recent SNL last night (thanks, TiVo!), and giggled at the show's latest digital short. However, it was censored, and today, eClaire sent along the drrrty version of the skit. Enjoy Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake as they do what basically amounts to the greatest impression of Color Me Badd ever:

What We All Want Song of the Week

Don't expect this to become a regular feature around these parts or anything (Listening Station, we're looking in your direction). Or, maybe you could just think of each "week" as actually constituting a month or two, then it would be regular. At any rate, here's a way for us to attempt to convince you to listen to particular songs. You'll do so if you know what's good for you.

This week's selection is Chromeo's "Tenderoni," a song Pitchfork reported on recently. Although they sum it up pretty well, suffice it to say, these dudes would sound great on a bill opening for LCD Soundsystem (Sound of Silver is awesome, by the way, but we'll save that tangent for another post). This is danceable noise the way it should be - stupid, not afraid of being stupid and groove for the sake of groove. With lyrics that talk about learning dances and getting into pantses, no less! Phew. Just listen:

HEARING AIDS! GET IT?!?

This post has been brought to you by the fact that Amber loves sending me random comic strips in the wee hours of the morning. Enjoy, and if she reads this, I'm sure she can link you to more. In the meantime, here are some other cartoonish ways to waste time:

See you there.

TONIGHT (that's Thursday, November 14, in this Foul Year of Our Lord, 2006), my friend Emily's band is playing at The Earl. The band is called Slow Motion Crash and you should attend the show. In fact, if you go, I'll let you touch my beard. Only once, though. Go see her band. Have a beer. Hang around for Snowden. It'll be grand. Oh yes. WWAW seal of approval right there, folks. Do it.

PS - Originally, I had wanted to use this photo as the main art for this post, but then I realized the flyer was a better angle. Emily is the badass in the back of the photo who looks like she wants to cut you with her hair. If you ask real nice tonight, she might just do it, too.

Happy Wednesday!

Me, I'm gonna go to work, write a cover story for a magazine, probably take a nap at some point, then go catch a movie with a friend. What are you going to do with this very middle-of-the-week day? Leave yr plans in the comments, please...

To Whom It May Concern

From time to time around WWAW HQ, we enthuse about other blogs, some even that are created by folks we are honored to call friends. Today is one of those days, as we honor Miss To Whom It May Concern. We've talked about her blog in the past (it's the one that writes letters -many of them quite angry- to inanimate objects the world over), but she's reformatted it and started posting more often. Give it a look and tell her we sent you:

Seeking Atlanta photographer for music assignment

Title says it all, pretty much. What, you want actual details? Fine. The piece is for DIW magazine, and it is about a certain Atlanta band. You must be willing to shoot for free. However, it will look excellent in the end, so you'll get a great clip out of the deal. Sound interesting? Send an email or leave a comment. Thanks.

This is yr moment of eBay zen.

At the time of this posting, this was at $17,487.63 with seven days and 23 hours remaining. Incredible! What was it at when you viewed it? Leave updates in the comments, please...
